Thanksgiving Dinner at Stone Church Another Success

Santa Walter, along with his family including Reluctant Reindeer Debbie and Elf Della, prepared and served a Thanksgiving Dinner at Stone Church of Willow Glen, San Jose, CA, on Thursday, at 2 PM. By arriving at the church kitchen at 2:15 AM, Santa Walter put on the first 2 of 6 turkeys. An ace kitchen helper, Lawrence Summers, came in at 8:00 AM with his onion-chopping knife, and the Kitchen Crew then prepped red potatoes to go out as mashed potatoes, southern style cornbread and sausage…See More

Santa Walter replied to Santa Walter's discussion 'Position Opening: Office and Facilities Manager'
It seems that over 100 qualified resumes have flooded in for the Personnel and Administration Committee to process. The good news is that the pool of qualified folks is good; the bad news is that there are 100 resumes to study! In the meantime,…

Hi Ken,

I just posted the sermon for today: Where the Edge Gathers, Part 1. Great sermon. It made me think about the times I've visited "the Edge" - Not many times, or at least, probably not enough. I think its hard. As you pointed out, you must choose your message carefully and work to understand the needs of the people on the edge. That is a big challenge, one that can probably be best addressed by openly asking questions and simply gaining experience by going there.

When… Continue

In the first part of a three part series on King David, Rev. Dr. Ken Henry uses the king of entertainment, Michael Jackson, as a comparison to King David. Both are incredibly talented; both have sketchy personal lives. Speaking on 2 Samuel 6, where King David dances with all his might before… Continue

11/1 River City Sermon

I just uploaded Ken's sermon for Nov. 1 at :
http://www.archive.org/details/RiverCity

Rev. 21 & 22 give a vision of heaven as a city of gold with gates of pearls and the river of the water of life flowing through the city. In his sermon, Rev. Dr. Ken Henry reflects on this vision as it applies to his and our lives. Rev. Marge Palmer reads from Isaiah 25:6-9.

"Weave, weave, weave us together..."

The song is still pulsating through my mind on Monday afternoon. And I can't help thinking how pleasant the word "weave" is compared to the word "bind." I guess we've all had experiences of feeling strangled by tight things!

9/27 Sermon Freeing Our Hearts From Shame

I just posted the audio for the 9/27 sermon at:

http://www.archive.org/details/FreeingOurHeartsFromShame

In Mark 7, Jesus calls the Pharisees hypocrites for their finding fault with the disciples eating with unwashed hands. Rev. Dr. Ken Henry uses this and other passages from Mark 7 to show how Jesus' ministry is against anything that excludes others and puts people to shame. Using the analogy of Jesus as the bread of life, Rev. Henry emphasizes that everyone is welcome to the… Continue
